New benefit: Peer Recovery Support Services
To support Horizon NJ Health members receiving Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment, effective July 1, 2020, Horizon NJ Health covers Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS) for members enrolled in the Managed Long Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) program, the Fully Integrated Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (FIDE-SNP) and the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) plans.
Certified PRSS provide non-clinical assistance and support throughout all stages of the SUD recovery and rehabilitation process. This includes improving transitions between levels of care, implementing strategies to address opioid misuse and opioid use disorder, and reducing opioid-related deaths.
Peer Recovery Specialists have been successful in the recovery process and help others that are experiencing similar situations. Through shared understanding, respect and mutual empowerment, Peer Recovery Specialists help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process, reducing the likelihood of a return to substance use. PRSS allows people to pursue a successful recovery in their everyday environment.
If you have questions about your benefits, please call the Member Services phone number on the back of your member ID card. Representatives are available to help you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
