Attention Members: Manufacturer recall of Natpara for Injection
Manufacturer Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited is voluntarily recalling all doses of Natpara for Injection (25 mcg, 50 mcg, 75 mcg, and 100 mcg) due to a potential issue related to rubber particulates originating from the rubber septum of the Natpara cartridge. When the septum is repeatedly punctured, it is possible that small rubber fragments may detach into the cartridge. On October 2, 2019, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that this is a Class I Recall for certain lots of Natpara due to the potential risk of rubber stopper particles clogging the needle and leading to patients taking a lesser dose of medication than what was prescribed by their doctor.
Natpara is used to treat hypocalcemia (low levels of calcium in the blood) in people who have low levels of parathyroid hormone.
We want to make sure you have the information you need to take care of your health. If you are taking Natpara, please discuss this recall with your doctor.
