Extending Prior Authorizations for Private Duty Nurses
We know that health care resources are limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To help reduce the burden on your staff and support you in delivering care to your patients during this challenging time, we’re making a change to Private Duty Nursing (PDN) authorizations.
Horizon NJ Health will automatically extend PDN authorizations, through May 31, 2020, for 90 days. This change applies to all Horizon NJ Health (including MLTSS) and Horizon NJ TotalCare (HMO D-SNP) members who are eligible for PDN. If you have already submitted a request to renew an authorization for PDN through the Utilization Management Request Tool, it will be voided. No further action is needed at this time.
This change is effective through May 31, 2020, subject to extension by Horizon NJ Health as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves.
This change does not impact new requests or changes to existing requests. Please submit new requests or changes for PDN services as you do today.
