COVID-19 Update: Medical Policy Revisions & Implementations

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Horizon BCBSNJ continues to work with physicians, hospitals, other health care professionals and facilities to help expedite our members’ treatment while balancing the need to efficiently use limited health care resources.

To support our provider community during this time, Horizon BCBSNJ will temporarily discontinue implementing new medical policies and revisions to existing medical policies that may result in an adverse impact to providers.

However, Horizon BCBSNJ will continue to implement new policies and minor revisions to existing policies within our Medical Policy Manual that enhance or provide new or additional coverage of services or supplies. To view notices of these changes, please check our Updates and Announcements section.

This decision does not impact new or revised policy implementations announced prior to March 23, 2020. 

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, we may announce medical policy revisions and implementations more frequently than usual.
