Managed Long-Term Services & Supports (MLTSS)

Who Is Eligible?

There are certain guidelines a person must meet to be eligible for the MLTSS program.

  • Clinical – A person must meet the guidelines for nursing home level of care, which means that she/he needs help with activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting and movement. A clinical needs assessment will be carried out before entering the MLTSS program, and every year after that.
  • Financial Requirements– These include monthly income, as well as total liquid assets. For more detailed information, visit the Department of Human Services' Division of Medical Assistance & Health Services website. Children applying for MLTSS, and who meet the nursing home level of care, parental income and resources are not counted in determining financial eligibility.
  • Categorical – A person must be 65 years old or older. If you are under 65 years of age, you must be determined blind or disabled by the Social Security Administration or the State of New Jersey.
