Horizon NJ Health Teams with Meridian Health for "School Health and Wellness Conference at the Beach"
(West Trenton, NJ, May 9, 2007) - Horizon NJ Health announced today that the company presented a free conference on School Health and Wellness, in partnership with Meridian Health, to assist staff from schools and districts throughout New Jersey.
The April 25, 2007 conference, entitled "School Health and Wellness Conference at the Beach," was held at the White Sands Oceanfront Resort and Spa at Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, from 8:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. Professional Development Hours were offered for attendees.
"We are pleased to partner with Meridian Health for this conference and our combined focus on health education, prevention and community outreach target the health needs of our children," commented Philip M. Bonaparte, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Horizon NJ Health. Featured speakers included physicians from Horizon NJ Health and Meridian Health in addition to other experts who discussed key health issues relevant to schools and children's health. Philip M. Bonaparte, M.D., Chief Medical Officer for Horizon NJ Health, discussed childhood obesity; Aron L. Gornish, M.D., FACS, Meridian Health, spoke on melanoma skin cancer; James McCall, Ph.D. from the New Jersey Department of Education, highlighted physical activity and a representative from the Pediatric Asthma Coalition of NJ spoke on asthma.
