|
Each year Horizon NJ Health members are asked what things we do well and what things we could do better. Answers to these questions help us to improve. In 2009 we asked questions about: - Getting the care you need.
- Getting help quickly.
- Doctors helping to make decisions for your health.
- How well doctors communicate.
- How well our doctors work.
- How well Horizon NJ Health works.
- Customer service.
- Health Promotion and Education.
The 2009 survey showed that parents and caregivers of children with long-term illness give high ratings to their doctors and nurses, and have great communication with their doctors. Healthy members feel that Horizon NJ Health and its doctors can do a better job of communicating. Some areas that we can improve are: - Getting help from doctors with the coordination of a child's medical care.
- Getting faster care.
- Better education about health and promoting healthy living.

Communicating with Your Doctor A good way to improve communication with your doctor is to make a list of your symptoms and questions before you visit your doctor. It is very common to forget important questions once you are at the doctor’s office, so writing them down is very helpful. Also, write down what your doctor says for you to do and ask questions if you do not understand what your doctor is telling you. Use this Ask Me 3 Worksheet to help think of things to ask your doctor.
